| The Vestmannaeyjar, incidently, is also the home of Keiko a rather famous whale that played a part in the Free Willy movies.
The whale was transported to the island at great cost. For instance the company responsible destroyed the only airfield on the island when landing a plane that was too large for the construction. Now Willy has really been freed - however having lived in captivity all his life he is not able to catch his own food and has to be fed by humans.
This is the bay where Keiko is held in by a big fence - we didn't see the whale although we had lunch on the rocky beach overlooking the bay. |
