Hard labour
Because Sct. Petersburg is located near the coast the temperature in January is up to minus nine degrees celcius. There is a long way down to the extreme temperatures that exist in other parts of Russia. Still there is lots of ice everywhere so it is not hard to keep warm when the battle against the ice sets in.
